The African American Alliance for Homeownership The African American Alliance for Homeownership is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community based organization in Portland, Oregon. We are a Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved Housing Counseling Agency with HUD-certified counselors providing first-time homebuyer and foreclosure prevention services to the public.
African-American Breastfeeding Coalition of Oregon (AABCO) Our mission is to re-establish Black cultural practices that honor, support and protect black parents who breast/chestfeed. We forge this vision through policy advocacy, defending workplace rights and providing community-based care.
African Family Holistic Health Organization We wrap around Portland’s African Diaspora communities and help each family identify their unique needs and ways to improve their lives. We utilize a trauma-informed, systems-thinking approach firmly grounded in popular education and Polyvagal Theory to address physical, mental, emotional, and financial health, empower individuals, and create healthier families and communities.
African Women's Coalition To mobilize, advocate and empower African Women living in Oregon and Southwest Washington by providing a culturally supportive and nurturing environment that builds the capacity of the community to help itself and allows other members of the community to reach their highest potential through support, guidance and educational opportunities.
African Youth & Community Organization (AYCO) The AYCO mission is “to settle the past, engage the present, and hope for the future.” AYCO strives to strengthen a sense of cultural identity within immigrant communities while also enhancing capacity toward integration and hope for the future.
Albina Ministerial Alliance (AMA) Coalition for Justice and Police Reform The AMA Coalition for Justice and Police Reform is working toward these five goals:
A federal investigation by the Justice Department to include criminal and civil rights violations, as well as a federal audit of patterns and practices of the Portland Police Bureau.
Strengthening the Independent Police Review Division and the Citizen Review Committee with the goal of adding power to compel testimony.
A full review of the Bureau's excessive force and deadly force policies and training with diverse citizen participation for the purpose of making recommendations to change policies and training.
The Oregon State Legislature narrowing the language of the State statute for deadly force used by police officers.
Establishing a special prosecutor for police excessive force and deadly force cases.
The Albina Vision Trust The Albina Vision Trust (AVT) is a community-driven non-profit 501(c)(3) created to buy back land, rebuild community, and reroot Black legacies and Black futures in the heart of Portland’s central city.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Oregon- Racial Justice The ACLU of Oregon strives to end the disproportionate impact of police abuses, over-incarceration, and the selective enforcement of drug laws on communities of color.
American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) Oregon Eugene, OR We are a collective of Oregon residents striving to lead in the peaceful yet tactical political tradition of the Civil Rights activism of the 60’s. We Advocate for the specific legitimate justice claims of all ADOS people in general, and for ADOS in Oregon specifically.

Black Educational Achievement Movement (B.E.A.M.) The Black Educational Achievement Movement (BEAM) operates as a ‘Sankofa Village’ model. Where a collective of Black educational service providers and Black professionals in both the public and private sectors are committed to reaching back to help our youth, by challenging the insistent disregard of the hopes, dreams and achievements of Black students in the public and private classrooms. Hence, BEAM unites an inter-generational cross section of culturally-proficient community-based organizations that have bridged their years of expertise to elevate and acknowledge youth of African descent who are in pursuit of middle school, high school and post-secondary educational attainment that will prepare them for the globe marketplace.
Black Joy Oregon Black Joy Oregon is a non-violent organization that has traveled across Oregon to demonstrate loving and joyful celebrations of Black Joy and culture. Black Joy Oregon uplifts women into positions of leadership and empowers communities of color. We organize within our state to demand change for our most marginalized community members. In true non-violence form, we seek to create social change through truth-force and love-action. With a willingness to undergo suffering rather than inflict it, and never looking for retaliation.
Black Lives Matter PDX We are a collective of Black folks organizing against capitalism and colonialism. Our people will know freedom in our lifetimes.
Black Men Matter Black Men Matter was founded on the belief that every Black man has a story that deserves to be heard. With roots in advocacy and social justice, we aim to educate, empower, and inspire Black men to reach their full potential and become leaders in their communities.

Black Resilience Fund Black Resilience Fund is a program of nonprofit Brown Hope and is dedicated to fostering healing and resilience by providing direct financial assistance to Black Portlanders.
Black Southern Oregon Alliance Ashland, OR We are a group of community members committed to building connections through advocacy, and celebration of black community in southern Oregon. It’s our goal to promote a visible sense of community and connection. We offer the opportunity to get plugged in to the black community whether you are a person of color, an ally, family member or friend.
Black Youth Suicide Policy Coalition (BYSPC) Youth suicide rates have decreased in Oregon, except for Black and Brown youth. BYSPC is one of 8 state teams involved in a pilot project to end suicide attempts among Black youth.
A group of 11 members from across Oregon, we meet bi-weekly to develop a statewide Black youth suicide prevention plan, and to promote collaboration. The coalition formed in 2023 at the country’s first-ever Black Youth Suicide Policy Academy, held by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Center for African Immigrants and Refugees Organization (CAIRO) It is the mission of the Center for African Immigrants and Refugees Organization (CAIRO) to advocate for and act to increase equity and social justice through programs, services, community organizing and collaborative leadership that create equitable opportunities for African refugees and immigrant children, youth and families to thrive.
The Center for Black Excellence The Center for Black Excellence (“CBE”) is a collaborative of Black-led and Black-serving community organizations along with schools working together to advance a culture of Black excellence, unify and elevate the Black educational experience, and improve outcomes for Black students, families, and teachers.
The Central Oregon Black Leaders Assembly Bend, OR The Central Oregon Black Leaders Assembly (C.O.B.L.A.) is a 501-c3 organization whose mission is to uplift Black people in Central Oregon through programs designed to put them on a path to generational wealth, inclusion, and equality. The objective is to assist these individuals and families, and those who live in rural areas like ours by bridging the gap in employment, housing, safety, health and education.

Community Violence Prevention Alliance PDX The Community Violence Prevention Alliance (CVPA) is a collaboration of churches, non-profits and community groups that are working together to reduce gun violence in black and brown communities throughout Portland. CVPA seeks to address the root causes of violence in Black and Brown communities through four pillars of work: Prevention, Intervention, Community, and Opportunity. Our primary activities engage youth ages 8 through 20 in: mentorship; STEAM programming; summer programming; health education; and providing opportunities to engage youth in activities that broaden their understanding of the many positive opportunities available in their future.
The Contingent The Contingent is a venture nonprofit that empowers leaders and mobilizes community to tackle many of the largest injustices and vulnerabilities in our country. Don’t Shoot PDX Don’t Shoot Portland is an arts and education organization that promotes social justice and civic participation. Our year-round programming allows us to advocate for community members facing racism and discrimination by providing legal representation and direct advocacy. Since our inception in 2016, Don’t Shoot Portland has hosted its own dialogues, community forums and workshops focusing on history, archiving and social culture. The art proponent of our work acts as a communicative tool to facilitate discussions about race in America while providing educational assets to those most affected by discrimination in public policy.

Equitable Giving Circle Equitable Giving Circle (EGC) is a Black Women and Black Femme led organization aiming to make large economic deposits into Portland BIPOC economy while also encouraging community healing. We launched in Spring of 2020 with an idea and an ask of the community to trust in this idea and people not only believed us but funded us.

Family United Services (FUS) is a small minority owned business based in Portland, Oregon. We serve the holistic needs of parents and children, many involved with the Oregon Department of Human Services agency. We work to educate, inform and empower parents to build new habits and skills to become more confident in their abilities. We provide family advocacy, individualized service plans, supervised visitations, behavior plan consultation, case noted documentation for court hearings, and culturally specific tools for the betterment of themselves and their children's lives.
Freedom to Thrive Freedom To Thrive’s mission is to abolish the punishment-based carceral systems through transformative organizing, strategic partnerships and convening shared learning spaces. Our work centers around combating crimmigration– the intersection of criminal-legal and immigration enforcement– using a Pro Black, gender-affirming lens.

The Gordly Burch Center for Black Leadership and Civic Engagement The Gordly Burch Center for Black Leadership and Civic Engagement housed within The Gordly Burch House works to explore and honor the history of Black leaders and movements in Oregon and works to increase the number of Black leaders and policy makers across Oregon. Our work includes identifying, connecting training and supporting current and former Black elected officials and civic leaders statewide, gathering those leaders several times throughout the year and a two track leadership development program, one focused on elected office and the other focused on civic engagement including service on boards and commissions. The cultural preservation element includes preserving the history of Black Leadership in Oregon inside of the historic Gordly home which will be open for community access , tours and educational opportunities.

Habitat for Humanity, Portland: Advancing Black Homeownership Initiative Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Unfortunately, a structure of intentional and systemic racial discrimination in the U.S. has created barriers to homeownership for many Black families and individuals.
In response to these inequities, we are launching Habitat’s Advancing Black Homeownership Initiative in Portland.

Since 1976, the Eugene/Springfield NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has served as a source of cohesion for our local communities of color. In Lane County, our primary activities include implementation of education programs, public awareness events, community building, and coalition work towards cultural inclusion. Additionally, the Eugene/Springfield NAACP provides support to other regional offices.
NAACP, Portland The NAACP Portland Branch 1120 is one of the longest running civil rights organizations in this region ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and eliminating racial hatred and discrimination.

None Left Behind None Left Behind is a Black-led grassroots nonprofit serving Portland’s children and families who have been impacted by gun violence, parental separation, addiction, and trauma. Our mission is to promote healing, interrupt generational trauma, enhance education, remove barriers to access culturally specific therapy and reduce youth involvement with drugs, guns and gangs.

Oregon AFSCME, Council 75 Black Caucus A group composed of people that identify as African-Americans/Black to promote the interests of Black people, empower workers to organize for justice and take leadership in advancing the equity goals of our union.
Oregon Alliance of Black School Educators (ORABSE) ORABSE is the only organization in Oregon that focuses on supporting and serving Black educators by providing professional development, curriculum support, advocacy and career support, leadership and education conferences, affinity-based gatherings, and networking events. We know Black teachers leave teaching at a higher rate than white teachers. We need our current Black educators to stay in Oregon and we need to increase the overall number of educators who identify as Black or African American.
This is not only important for the education of our Black students; it is important for the education of all students in Oregon.
The Oregon Assembly for Black Affairs (OABA) The Oregon Assembly for Black Affairs (OABA), is a statewide Organization that was founded on April 9, 1977. The purpose of the Oregon Assembly for Black Affairs is to improve the political, educational, social, legal, and economic status of Blacks in Oregon. It is a nonpartisan organization and a statewide nonprofit corporation committed to improving the status of Blacks in Oregon, placing major emphasis on building a better Oregon for the Black Community. OABA knows "What Benefits Black Oregonians Benefits ALL Oregonians" and this premise does not work in reverse.
Oregon Association of Black Social Workers (Or-ABSW) The Oregon Association of Black Social Workers, comprised of people of African ancestry, is committed to enhancing the quality of life and empowering people of African ancestry through advocacy, human services delivery, and research.
Oregon Association of Black Social Workers, will work to create a world in which people of African ancestry will live free from racial domination, economic exploitation, and cultural oppression. In collaboration with national, international, and other appropriate groups, OABSW will continue to leverage its collective expertise to strategically develop capacity of people of African ancestry to sustain and flourish. NABSW’s vision is guided by the Principles of the Nguzo Saba, which are Unity, Self-determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith, and the Seven Cardinal Virtues of Ma’at, which are Right, Truth, Justice, Order, Reciprocity, Balance, and Harmony.
Oregon Black Education Foundation Eugene, OR To provide tangible transitional education opportunities; promote equity through eliminating disparities and valuing diversity by working with high school, community college, and university students to support traditional education or technical skills training that galvanizes the entrepreneur spirit for future community and business leaders.
Oregon Black Student Success Community Network (OBSSCN) Twenty culturally led organizations around the state have been chosen to pilot an advisory think tank, called the Oregon Black Student Success Community Network (OBSSCN). This network is intended to bring grassroots educational leaders together to provide direction to funders on the best practices that will advance Black children toward success from early childhood through post-secondary education.
Oregon Commission on Black Affairs (OCBA) The mission of the OCBA is to work for the implementation and establishment of economic, social, legal and political equality for Oregon's African American and Black communities.
We serve the people of Oregon to empower and support the African American and Black community through our special roles as policy advisors to Oregon state policy makers and leaders. The OCBA is a catalyst that empowers partnerships between state government and our community in rural and urban areas to ensure success for all African American and Black Oregonians by addressing longstanding and emerging issues at the policy level.
The Oregon Remembrance Project (ORP) The Oregon Remembrance Project (ORP) was founded to help communities with truth and reconciliation projects about rectifying historical injustice. ORP connects historical racism to its present-day legacies in order to inspire contemporary racial justice.
Oregon & SW Washington African Community Development Center The (OSWWACDC) is a collaboration of multiple nonprofit organizations striving to increase their strength and capacity to improve the support that is being provided to the Refugees & Immigrant community. Member organizations have identified fragmentation from each other and isolation from mainstream institutions as primary barriers to the integration of Refugees & Immigrants into the larger society. By building this coalition, combining their strength and experience, leaders of the Refugee and Immigrant community are influencing and creating awareness among stakeholders to increase support to the Refugee and Immigrant community within the state of Oregon.

PCRI will preserve and manage affordable, high quality, scattered site, single family homes; expand and manage our portfolio of small multiplexes; and acquire/develop multi-family housing to preserve affordable housing choices in our community.
Project Family First (PFF) Project Family First is culturally specific nonprofit dedicated to reducing the disproportionate representation of Black children in the Oregon foster care system by offering support, advocacy and culturally competent resources to families.

(re)Building Cornerstones, B.E.A.M. Founded in 2019, (re)Building Cornerstones seeks to highlight the strength and vibrancy of Portland’s historic Black community, while laying new cornerstones to build anew. The brainchild of artists Cleo Davis and Kayin Talton Davis, (re)Building Cornerstones serves the community through advocacy, education, and art, with a particular focus on youth.
The Reimagine Oregon Project Dismantling systemic racism must happen in our lifetimes. Systemic racism is a virus that has plagued America from its very first days. While it took 400 years - or over 20,000 weeks - to get to this point, we believe that Oregon is capable of starting this important work. Our children do not have to inherit the social ills we’ve been born into.
A group of Black-led organizations, Black individual activists and protest organizers came together and asked the question - what demands do we want to make and of whom?
Resolutions Northwest Founded in 1985 by community members who valued the vision of a restorative juvenile justice system, Resolutions Northwest provides services in restorative justice, mediation, and racial equity consultation through an equity lens.
We work towards honest dialogue and systems change.
We offer all types of mediations, including community, workplace and landlord-tenant. Our ultimate goal is to provide equitable services to strengthen relationships, shift practices, and improve outcomes.
Rose City Justice We are a Black-led, community-born platform that mobilizes the public toward racial justice reform.

Sabin CDC Sabin CDC is dedicated to promoting social equity by enhancing the livability of culturally diverse neighborhoods in Portland. We strive to ensure long-term affordable rental and homeownership housing options. Our efforts primarily focus on supporting African American and Afro-Indigenous households adversely affected by gentrification, systemic oppression, and inequalities.
Salem Keizer NAACP Salem, OR We are the Salem-Keizer home of grassroots activism for civil rights and social justice. We are part of an organization with more than 2,200 units across the nation, powered by over 2 million people. In our cities, schools, companies, and courtrooms, we are the legacy of W.E.B. Dubois, Ida B. Wells, Thurgood Marshall, and other civil rights giants.
Our vision is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights and there is no racial hatred or racial discrimination.
Sankofa Collective Northwest (Formerly PFLAG Portland Black Chapter) Sankofa Collective Northwest, formerly known as PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Portland Black Chapter, promotes the health and well-being of specifically Black gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people, their families and friends through support, education, organizing and advocacy. This organization began as the first African American chapter of PFLAG in the nation. We relaunched as the Sankofa Collective Northwest in August 2016.
Self Enhancement, Inc. Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) is dedicated to guiding underserved youth to realize their full potential. Working with schools, families, and partner community organizations, SEI provides support, guidance, and opportunities to achieve personal and academic success. SEI brings hope to individual young people and enhances the quality of community life.
SISTAS Empowerment Since 2005 SISTAS EMPOWERMEnt organization’s mission statement is to create an atmosphere and environment of healing, empowerment, freedom and liberation primarily for Black/African descent women and girls by providing culturally-relevant, transformative workshops and retreats, engaging events, supportive services, and valuable resources.
We embrace and incorporate the rich tapestry of African culture by promoting self-care and wellness, spiritual rejuvenation, and empowerment, while recognizing and addressing the unique challenges and experiences our community faces. Our approach is holistic and culturally specific. We focus on practical, creative methods that empower women and girls to take control of their lives and destinies.
SOAR Immigration Legal Services: Cuban-Haitian Assistance Project (CHAP), Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon SOAR Immigration Legal Services has served the Cuban and Haitian community in Oregon through the Cuban Haitian Assistance Project (CHAP) since 2006, thanks to funding from the Oregon Department of Human Services State Refugee Program.
Under the CHAP program, SOAR Legal serves 96 percent of the Cuban immigrants in Oregon. These services are available to eligible Cubans and Haitians who have lived in the United States for fewer than five years, except in the case of Naturalization.

Taking Ownership PDX We renovate and revive Black-owned homes that have requested our help, with an emphasis on enabling Black homeowners to age in place, generate wealth and simultaneously deter predatory investors and realtors to deflect the gentrification process. While nothing can undo the decades of harm imposed upon Portland's Black community via deliberate historical redlining, gentrification and systemic racism, Taking Ownership is turning the tide with a commitment to impactful grassroots change in support of the Black home owners of our city.
